IDEATION
Fig 2: References (Source: Pinterest)
I got insipired by those characters, I've decided to not limited by the realistic creature and create the creature that is not existed in the world.
I did some attempts:

The water-shaped vormator looks like a nose at first sight, so eventually I came out with this.

I tired to utilize and combine the shapes to make something cooler. I started doing researchon Pokemon creatures in the hope of getting some idea. Then, the idea of creating a dragon came to me.
I tried to did a rough sketch of it:

PROGRESS
Character
Firstly, I filled in the colour.

I think it would be better without outline, so I removed it and added some shapes as its pattern.

For the background, I can't find one that fit to the character, so I decided to create on my own. I did the background (hell) on another artboard. I used some of the vormator shapes to create the rocks and flames. In addition, I created the smoke by using pencil tool.

Then, I inserted the dragon into the background.

REFLECTION
Experience:
The limitation of only 8 shapes can be used in the work was a difficulty for me to think of a character at first. Furthermore, I found the pen tool was hard to use when I tried to trace the vormator shapes out.
Observation:
I noticed that I was slowly get familiar with Adobe Illustrator like I started know some of the short-cut keys and tools after I've used them over and over again in doing this exercise.
Findings:
I found that I got frustrated sometimes when I could not find a solution to certain issue during working on the exercise. I need to be patient and keep up a positive manner in completing my work next time. Anyway, I was enjoyed in doing this exercise.
