FINAL REFLECTION
Experience:
I felt that I was not born for designing Typography, I know no one is good at everything at first. But, it's like a mess for me as compared to other modules. Sometimes, I think Typography was interesting that I desired to develop it like the Motion Typography, but I also got frustrated with it most of the time, as I found it has many restrictions to be adhered in designing, such as Text Formatting.
Observation:
I found that I rather good in dealing with illustrations or shapes than Typography. I know how to be creative in illustration but don't know in Typography. However, it is undeniable that, throughout these 14 weeks, I've acquired the knowledge about Typography, the way to express the texts, the methods in formatting a text and so on. Besides that, designing our own font is the one I enjoyed the most, it's so cool that I was able to have and use my own font. After taking this module, I realized myself will pay more attention to the typography that applied in Music Video, the Billboard in the street and the text and layout used by a webpage. I started to look at the Typography in different view.
Findings:
Overall, I think this module provided a good introduction to Typography for me as a beginner. I am thankful for Mr. Vinod for being straight forward in pointing out our flaws in our design and giving very clear instructions and feedback in the class, as well as Mr. Shamsul for patiently listening to our opinion in the class. Lastly, I would like to thank my friend, Min Yuk who helped me a lot through this semester. Although I don't like some part of the Typography but I would love to learn more about Typography, perhaps I can find the joy within. I know I still have a long way to go before I achieve a higher level of understanding in Typography and I will strive hard to achieve that.
In my opinion, I do agree with the suggestions given by our senior Qian Hui to improve the class, in which showing both examples of good and bad work, so that we could know what is the mistake that we should avoid in our work.
