LECTURES
WEEK 7 & 8 // 10.05.2021 & 17.05.2021
No class for Week 8 (Independent Learning Week), but we were advised to go through the lecture and materials of Week 7 in Week 8. A brief on Assignment 3 (Research Implementation) was given by Dr. Hayati in Google Classroom.

Supplementary Notes_Week 7
WEEK 9 // 24.05.2021
We were asked to show the research instruments (either Quali + Quali / Quanti + Quanti / Quali + Quanti) that we have decided on for our primary data research this week.
WEEK 10 // 31.05.2021
We got feedback for our research instrument decision.
WEEK 11 // 07.06.2021
No lecture (Public Holiday)

ASSIGNMENT 3: Research Implementation
WEEK 8 // 17.05.2021
Although we don't have a class for this week as it's ILW, we still were advised to go through the recorded lectures, notes and supplementary videos shared of Week 6 & 7 in Teams.
We were expected to decide on and design our primary data collection methods, which is at least 2 instruments (either qualitative or quantitative methods) for our Assignment 3- Research Implementation. In the upcoming week 9 tutorial session, we need to present how we going to conduct our primary research.
WEEK 9 // 24.05.2021
I only kick-started my brainstorm on primary research methods this week. I decided to utilize a mixed-method Questionnaire as my quantitative approach, and Visual Analysis as my qualitative approach.
Since I need to understand the public's perception of my research topic about "Kawaii", a questionnaire would be the choice to obtain quick and large responses. Furthermore, with a Visual Analysis, I could better understand the character chosen and the reason for its popularity.
WEEK 10 // 31.05.2021
PROGRESS
After brainstorming on the questions that are necessary for my primary data collection, I set a questionnaire using Google Form and distributed it through my personal Instagram account:

WEEK 11 // 07.06.2021
After getting sufficient responses (data) from the Questionnaire, I worked on the analysis of the data collected.
Below is the first compilation of my primary data collection (Questionnaire):

WEEK 12 // 14.06.2021
Feedback from Dr. Hayati:
-Try to post the survey form in another forum that consists of people from different regions as the region’s data gathered is only limited to Asia countries.
- Can summarize the qualitative responses obtained by filtering out the useless and choosing the one that has a good point.
- There’s an error in the design of the question in section 3, as told before the research topic which is Kawaii-significant character influences the success of animation is too broad.
- Since the questionnaire has already been set and data has been obtained, you can state the drawbacks or constraints on a page of “Reflection”.
PROGRESS
The researcher just realized "Kawaii"-significant character influences the success of animation is different from "Kawaii"-significant character influences the animation preference. However, both the success of animation and animation preference is still considered to be too broad to research. As told by Dr. Hayati, all I can do is have a Reflection to state the glitches. After that, I also redistributed the survey at Reddit and Tapas forum to obtain more responses from other countries, especially western countries as I need various opinions.

FEEDBACK
WEEK 8 // 17.05.2021
No feedback. (ILW)
WEEK 9 // 24.05.2021
General Feedback:- Look at research questions, and decide on 2 research instruments to be conducted.
- Provide justification.
- Best to have 80-100 participants/ samples for the Questionnaire.
- If choosing “Interview” as a research instrument, we need to have one backup plan or two in case there is no response from the interviewer.
- Consider 5W1H in conducting the research instruments.
- Who to be asked for an Interview or Questionnaire?
- For Quantitative, it will only be a Questionnaire.
WEEK 10 // 31.05.2021
Specific Feedback:
- For the visual analysis, you might think of analyzing one character from 3 animations or three characters from 1 specific animation which is “My Neighbor Totoro”.- As for the positive effect mentioned in the Hypothesis, you may consider the factors in terms of revenue and emotion, etc.
- Should start doing the quantitative this week, don’t get it started at the last minute.
WEEK 11 // 07.06.2021
No feedback. (Public Holiday)
