PROJECT 2: Visual Effects Video Shooting
WEEK 1 // 01.04.2021
We were tasked to watch videos of Zach King and choose 3 effect videos that we like from it with the reasons given.
3 Favorite special effects (Zach King)
1. Most Realistic Painting Ever
I personally think this video is incredibly nice. The stop motion, sets, makeup, setup, and camera shooting certainly take a lot of effort and time. I love the way he comes out from the frame and stays in it, everything looks so smooth and real.

2. A Great Way to Make Spare Change
I love how the coins coming out from the parmesan cheese grater instead of the Parmigiano and the confused expression of that girl. The video is so satisfying to watch.

3. Performing Magic Tricks for Cats
I love how he uses his creativity to show his classic style. He has shown those tricks in all his videos and they are amazing, but he makes it different this time by interacting with the cat, Michael. The reaction of the cat is cute and funny, making the video looks so real and interesting.

WEEK 6 // 06.05.2021
The feedback given is Scene #3 Shot #9 can be removed due to time constraints.
WEEK 8 // 20.05.2021
Video Shooting
The shooting is done with the help of my brother and my sister. My brother shot all the footage using my sister's phone, and my sister helped me to prepare the prop such as placing and removing the skateboard.
The shooting took about two hour as we tried to make it in one long take, and we attempted several times.

PROGRESS
Attempt #1
I edited the footage and added the sound using Premiere Pro. The audios were taken from freesound.org and also YouTube.
After getting feedback from Mr. Martin, I need to shorten the video's duration (30 seconds) and the skateboard scene can be reshot from a third-person point of view to a first-person point of view.
Hence, I replaced scene #1 shot #1 with a shorter scene and cut the duration of scene #2 shot 2. Also, I made the skateboard scene to be a first-person perspective. After done editing in Premiere Pro, I did the colour correction by using a video editing app on my phone.

WEEK 6 // 06.05.2021
Mr. Martin advised me to remove the cola scenes as it will drag the video's duration. Other than that, I'm good to go.
WEEK 9 // 27.05.2021
Mr. Martin said that my video exceeds the expected time, he then suggested me to speed up some scenes such as the opening wide shot part, the notification part, the skateboard scene. Speaking of the skateboard scene, I am advised to change it to a first-person point of view.
REFLECTION
Acting is hard haha. My brother and I tried to make it a one-take scene just like most of Zach King's videos, but I can't help laughing in the middle of the shooting. Funny thing is that it is not just me who has learned those cinematography techniques, my brother also learned those camera shots through my assignment. Overall, it is a fun experience and I really enjoy it.
