EXERCISE 1: Bouncing Ball Animation
To familiarize ourselves with animating in Blender, we were tasked to do the bouncing ball animation in Blender. A template is provided by Mr. Kamal.

ATTEMPT #2
As I struggled to animate it using the given template, the animation appears unnatural. Hence, I decided to look for tutorials online to make my own version of a bouncing ball and also in the hopes of becoming more comfortable with using Blender for animation.

WEEK 5 // 30.09.2022

EXERCISE 3: Emotion Poses
We were tasked to make poses for Happy, Sad, Angry, and Scared by using the character rigs template provided.

PROGRESS

Happy Pose
I first built my happy pose by using the below picture as a guide. Since the pose library lacks a smiling face expression, I adjusted the eyes to give the impression of happiness.

Sad Pose

Fig 3.4: Reference_Sad

The sad face in the template greatly saved me time by saving me from having to move his facial expression.

Angry Pose

Fig 3.7: Attempt_Angry

I realized that the figure wasn't on the ground when I saw from the shadow that it was floating. I then made revisions to it and put my final result in the section below.

Scared Pose

Fig 3.8: Reference_Scared

I modified my pose from the reference above. I have made use of the shocked eyes, crawled hand, and opened-mouth poses from the pose library.

Fig 3.9: Process_Scared

Fig 3.10: Attempt_Scared

I revised it since I thought the leg looked a little out of the ordinary, and my finished work is seen below.

FEEDBACK

WEEK 2 // EXERCISE 1: Bouncing Ball Animation
Mr. Kamal mentioned that he mistakenly did not update the brief which we should do different balls weight.

WEEK 3 // EXERCISE 2: Pendulum Swing
The drag is unnature, which can be improved.

WEEK 4 // EXERCISE 2: Emotion Poses
  • The pose is recommended to use a real human person as a reference for the pose.
  • Avoid twinning
  • For the happy pose, it is recommended to do it in a 3Q camera view
  • For the sad pose, the camera view is advised to change to a close-up shot, and keep the leg firmly planted on the ground rather than hanging over it.
  • For the angry pose, it is advisable to slightly bend the body rather than take a straight line of movement.
    • bend the fist inwards
    • push the shoulder more.
    • switch the camera perspective to 3Q.
  • For the scared pose, change the camera view to a 3Q perspective and make sure the fist and arm are clearly seen in the fearful position.
